Status assessment study was carried out and suitable recommendations given for Rejuvenation of Drinking Water Purification Plants Installed in Tsunami affected areas. The plants were installed earlier with fund support from Order of Malta France.
Order of Malta, France is a Charitable Organization recognized by Government of France. The organization has supported for establishment of 42 Water Purification Plants in Tamil Nadu, particularyNagaipattinum District to provide safe drinking water to Tsunami affected Coastal Communities. They have financially supported for maintenance of the same for a period. Later OMF decided to find a sustainable alternative to provide safe water to the communities. The OMF wished to transfer the funding for management to the communities, so that they can take charge of the operation and maintenance of the Water Purification Plants.
